Storage Test of Production 2010 (tested on 20.07.2019)

Field Report Wholegrain Rye Tinned Bread

We are often confronted with the question of the true shelf life of tinned bread.
On the Internet there are some reports of experiences (often from anonymous sources), so we would like to share our own experiences that we have gathered so far with you here.

We have taken some tins from our reserve stock, which were produced in 2010. Over the years we have had the opportunity to taste even “older” tins, with amazing results.

But now to our test of our 9 year old tinned bread:

The sliced wholemeal rye bread is still very tasty and still tastes like excellent wholemeal rye bread as we know it. Still surprisingly moist and very well preserved in color.
I would claim that nobody would guess that this bread has already been stored in the can for 9 years.
Tins are also still in perfect condition: both the exterior and the interior coating.

Here is a comparison of production in 2010 and 2019:

  • Hardly any visual differences
  • Taste/sensory also not
  • the “older” bread is a little “drier

We will keep you up to date from time to time with further bearing tests.
