The military biscuit was invented more than 50 years ago when a new fine idea for the military biscuit known as “federal brick” was sought. In 1959, the Kambly company was commissioned to create a tasty cookie for the Swiss soldiers, as a substitute for bread and with a long shelf life. The result is a nutritious biscuit that tastes equally good with sweets like chocolate and salty ones like cheese or sausage. The recipe of the traditional Swiss biscuit is still top secret and has never been changed except for one thing since its invention: Instead of using hardened fats, it is now made with the healthier unhardened fats.
